PROSTHETIC DENTISTRY
Prosthetic dentistry deals with the creation of prosthetic devices (prostheses) designed to replace missing dental elements. These devices are made by the dental technician on the precise indication of the dentist, who will have previously taken the impression of the affected dental arch.
The prosthesis is defined as:
- FIXED, when it rests on natural and / or artificial dental elements (implants) and is permanently cemented or screwed
- MOBILE (or REMOVABLE), when it is designed to be removed, and can be made both for the replacement of only some of the dental elements (partial prosthesis) and for the replacement of all the elements of the entire aracata (total prosthesis or dentures) and it is usually kept stable by hooks or attachments.
